Local uranium expert Zach Larsen will be leading this trek out into the Gas Hills, the site of the first uranium found in Fremont County. We will be learning about the history of Wyoming’s uranium industry and exploring many of the sites in Gas Hills. Participants are responsible for bringing their own sack lunch and water.
Sophie Barksdale has been a co-producer for several EMMY nominated documentaries, including Who She Is, a documentary that focuses on Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women in the United States with a focus on Fremont County. Sophie will be discussing filmmaking in Fremont County, and specifically focusing on the Missing and Murdered Epidemic that exists in Wyoming.
Meet at the Dennison Lodge to learn more about astronomy in general and about a lunar eclipse in particular before viewing the lunar eclipse. Tom will also point out many of the constellations and planets that are visible with the naked eye and bring your binoculars.
The Wind River Visitor’s Center Adventure Trek Series and Pioneer Museum will host a trek to view the fascinating Petroglyphs located in Red Canyon.
