“Santa’s Workshop”

Visit the Riverton Museum from any time between 10am-4pm on December 13th to explore free of charge for our open house, and enjoy a holiday discount in our gift shop. Between 2-4pm, the Riverton Museum will set up fun crafts for kids, free hot chocolate and cookies, and you can purchase a special toy from Santa's Workshop to assemble and paint at the museum. The total cost for each toy is $7 while supplies last. Materials and paint will be provided.

Kids Corner: Scandinavian Straw Ornament

Scandinavian immigrants were hired as tie hacks to cut logs throughout the Wind River region.  Many of their traditions were incorporated in Dubois history.  Grain was important, and an ancient Scandinavian tradition was that the first bundle of grain that was cut was kept for decorating the home during Christmas.  The straw was made into ornaments to be hung on the Christmas tree and throughout the home.  This project will encourage children to use natural materials to create a cultural keepsake.
