“Frenchie Draw History” by Rob Hendry June 23 6:30pm

Join the Riverton Museum for this Wyoming Community Bank Discovery Speaker Series program featuring Rob Hednry on June 23rd at 6:30pm.

Frenchie Draw is the name given to a desolate stretch of sagebrush off US Highway 26 near the Fremont and Natrona County border. As is much of the area, it is an inhospitable piece of land. Nevertheless, during period of time between the World Wars, attempts were made to homestead the area. Promises were made that may have been ambitious, like the ease of raising sheep, and even the possibility of growing watermelons in the area. Attempts to homestead were unsuccessful, and today the area is home to natural gas exploration and cattle ranching.

Rob Hendry’s family has been ranching in Wyoming for generations. With his family, he runs the Clear Creek Cattle Company near Lysite. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman for the Natrona County Commission. Living near Frenchie Draw, he has amassed a wealth of knowledge about these failed homesteading experiments, and he will be talking about this interesting story.

This event starts at 6:30 PM and is free and open to the public
